SANTIE CRONJE
Santie Cronje
Originally from South Africa, Santie Cronje has called New Zealand home since 1999. As a visual storyteller her paintings are closely connected to her life experiences, travels, thoughts and surroundings. Formally educated, Santie studied Art as a Major subject at school from age sixteen and completed a Bachelors of Arts at the University of Pretoria (South Africa) in 1994. A galleried artist in New Zealand since 2008, Santie has had numerous solo exhibitions and participated in group and duo shows for over ten years. Her preferred medium has been Acrylics since she was sixteen and with its quick drying times, it allows her to create multiple thin layers and washes. Acrylics are not as toxic as other mediums and works don't have to cure for months before shows. Her style has been described as “a delicate simplicity and elegance, which touches the childlike side of the heart”. Santie is represented by a handful of selected galleries with her work held in private collections in New Zealand and abroad. "Art and creativity has been around me for as long as I can remember. From the paintings in my parents house, to my early years of making art at school. I feel as though it has always been a part of me, which without a doubt, has sent me on an amazing creative journey to where I am today." Santie |
