LYNDA HENSMAN - Original Art
ARTIST'S BIO:
LYNDA HENSMAN
Lynda Hensman has always enjoyed expression through art. Originally from Invercargill, New Zealand, she remembers being fascinated by form and colour as a child. As an adult, this manifested as a range of creatively-driven jobs from creating food as a trained chef to working in high fashion retail and boosting clients’ confidence with her eye for style.
In 2015, Lynda began transforming an old building in Queenstown into an art gallery and studio for like-minded artists and art lovers. Meeting visitors in the gallery helped her realise her gift for opening up deeper conversations about life and art with people from all walks of life. This, coupled with her interest in human nature and culture, has informed Lynda’s artistic approach. In recent years, Lynda and her partner travelled Europe on a motorbike, finding inspiration in vibrant and diverse places like Greece, Bulgaria, Croatia and Germany. Stories, emotions and artistic ideas from different cultures have become key themes. Lynda is a self-taught artist who continually evolves her skills through bold experimentation. Painting primarily in oil, she enjoys the twist and turns of each artwork’s creation. There’s always raw emotion in her work; she is not afraid of painting pain, complex emotions and the idiosyncrasies of human nature. “There’s always a bit of agony, passion and raw emotion in my artwork. Through twists and turns, it can take many layers but when I break through, it’s a fantastic feeling. I feel I’m creating now with a stronger sense of maturity, direction and purpose than ever before.” |
