ARTISTS' BIO

I am a self-taught artist, and after years of focusing on a career in broadcasting and raising my family, I rediscovered the joy of painting and the gift of making a living from my art.
Based on our beautiful family farm in a picturesque valley just outside Nelson, I am surrounded by my painting inspirations. I love to capture my daily life and the animals that make up our farm family from alpacas to cats horses, chickens and goats. From an early age I either had a pencil or a paintbrush in my hand. Throughout my childhood and young adult years I was either painting or writing long unpublished “novels.” I grew up in a country home filled with art, music and literature. When I take my art to the public, people describe my work as “joyful and whimsical” among other colourful adjectives. I paint with acrylics and love the rich colour palettes, especially in my figurative art range. Known affectionately as my “Lovely Ladies” I love to create aesthetic and harmonious scenes from daily life. (If only we did spend our days lounging on sofas with our cats!) My passion and ideal is to paint for the pure enjoyment that it brings, and to share my paintings in the form of quality art prints, art blocks and greeting cards with others who gain pleasure from my vibrant and quirky country images. |
