ARTIST'S BIO:

JACQUELINE HOCQUARD

Jacqueline’s art is inspired by her love of the natural world. Based in Blenheim, the artist started this journey in Carterton in 2013, and the wildlife of the region has provided the ideal subjects for her skills.

Jacqueline, who is self-taught, has been painting full time since 2013, has exhibited in the Big Wai Art Sale and had her first solo show in 2017. Her work can be found in galleries in Eastbourne, Greytown, Carterton and Picton. She was accepted into the New Zealand Art Show for 2018 and the Nelson Art Expo which both went well. The Christchurch Art Show in 2019.

Jacqueline has long been an admirer of the work of Raymond Harris-Ching and Carl Benders, she has found wildlife an endlessly fascinating subject for study. Growing up on a farm has been a major influence, and is at her happiest working free from the interruptions of urban life, either photographing and sketching nature or working at her easel.
Her work has found it’s way to Ireland, England, Europe and Australia and the States. Exhibited in London and Cannes early 2019.

Jacqueline describes her work as an attempt to capture memories and the reality of the natural world. Although she uses a camera for her artistic studies, her finished paintings are built up as composites. Always having used acrylic and now watercolour paints, she always finds the journey exciting and loves the creative process.
