Vanessa Owens is a self taught artist based on the Kapiti Coast, and has been painting for the last 20 years.
Inspiration flows within the beauty of Kapiti's seascapes and rivers, including the varied and abundant native bird life found living on the Kapiti Coast. Creating contemporary acrylic paintings, Vanessa draws the viewer into interesting compositions with varied textures. Painting with a limited natural palette enhances a cohesion and harmony for her chosen subject matter which is the New Zealand native birds that live within the natural surroundings within her paintings. Vanessa enjoys the mediative practice of creating art, immersing herself in the natural landscape around her, and with her camera which is always with her, she captures inspiring images to take back to her studio to paint from. |
