ARTIST'S BIO:

NINA RUSSELL

My Name is Nina Russell. I was born in Blenheim, New Zealand but lived overseas for 25 years, moving between LA, London, Dublin and Abu Dhabi.
I’ve always loved art and creativity and since returning to Blenheim I’ve been able to really follow my own creative path
and experiment with lots of mediums and materials.  I especially like using recycled objects found around the home, garage or charity shops.  People also collect can tabs and various items for me to use in my creations. It’s interesting to see the possibilities that junk items can be reused in.
I also try other methods to create art, such as pastes and fillers to obtain a textural effect, often including other materials to enhance things.
I like it when I see people recognising objects used in my pieces and each piece has a bee somewhere as I feel that they are one of the most impactful little creatures we have.
