ARTIST'S BIO:
LISA GRENNELL
|
I was born in Timaru, New Zealand, in 1973. After leaving school at a young age, I followed my passion and completed a Bachelor of Visual Arts and Design, graduating art school in 2010.
Trying to make ends meet and raising three children during this time, I defied all the odds to realise my dream. I have a strong sense of family and the richness that children bring to our lives, and this is evident in the works I create. Children are my inspiration, my guiding light, and I endeavor to invoke the nostalgia of childhood within my art. My work largely consists of reverse hand-painting and silk screen printing on Perspex using acrylic paint, glitter, and gold leaf. Sometimes the subject is floated within the frame, creating a shadow. As daylight casts its glow on the works, so too does the shadow, thus bringing the subject to life. |
