We're delighted to welcome artist Colin Wynn to Raukura Gallery. His stunning new collection of original fine art in both oil and acrylic is now on show.
Although painting commissions has taken him around the world, he finds most of his inspiration in and around New Zealand’s magnificent South Island, particularly Marlborough. Marlborough based artist Colin Wynn is one of New Zealand's most established marine and landscape artists, renowned for his evocative seascapes, landscapes and maritime paintings. His work captures the character, atmosphere and drama of the natural world, drawing inspiration from the coastlines, waterways, and rugged landscapes of New Zealand and beyond. A professional artist since the 1970's, Colin has devoted his career to painting the places, people and stories that have shaped his deep connection with the sea, and the outdoors. His paintings are held in private, corporate and public collections around the world, and his work has been exhibited throughout New Zealand. In 1983 Colin was invited to become the official artist of the Royal New Zealand Navy, a position he continues to hold today. His appointment has taken him into environments rarely accessible to other artists, allowing him to document naval vessels, operations, personnel and significant moments in New Zealand's naval history. Over more than four decades, Colin has produced in excess of 100 commissioned works for the RNZN, many of which are held within the Navy's collections or have been presented to visiting dignitaries and allied navies. |
