JANE McINTOSH - Original Art
ARTISTS' BIO
JANE MCINTOSH
Jane McIntosh was born in Christchurch in 1958. Her early education took place at
Christchurch Girls High School and continued at the University of Canterbury where she obtained her Bachelor of Science Degree. Jane’s love for art really began with a course in fine china restoration in the United Kingdom whilst travelling the world with her husband, Tom. From there, she has undertaken ongoing art courses ranging from painting, drawing, photography, and sculpture. During this time, she has obtained various artistic achievements which include illustrating children’s books (finalist in the Margaret Mahy Illustration Competition), portrait commissions (winner of the Mt Aspiring Award and finalist in the Adams Portraiture Award), bronze sculpture work and painting fibreglass” Pop Up Penguins” and “Stand Tall Giraffes” for the Christchurch public art trails. She finds herself very fortunate to work from her studio based at the ‘The Top Cottage’, situated on their farm northeast of Culverden. The area is stunning. The expansive North Canterbury landscape and gardens, with its diverse seasonal changes, combined with the animals that surround her, are the source of inspiration for much of her artwork. |
